Square Dance and Line Dance : Square dancing and linedancing are sometimes thought of as orginating from the Wild West. The Line dance is a formation dance in which a group of people dance in one or more lines. There are several variations to the parallel linesset-up. There may,for example, be two sets of lines where the dancers face each other directly.

Although Square Danceand Line Dance are not so famous here, sometimes people dance them when celebrating American Independence Day, or at Western Festivals where English major students do these dance.



ITALY


Ballet : Is ballet a tradittonal art? Not now maybe, but , yes, it was. It all stared in Itally in the 15 th Century. The earliest introduction to ballet was luxurious entertainments given in the courts of Renaissance Italy.

The Italian court ballets were further (The Queen's BalletComedy), the first ballet of which a complete score survived, was performed in Paris in 1581.

China


Lion Dance : The Lion dance, or Barongsai,as it's commonly known in Indonesia, was not a dance at all at first. Legend says that there was an evil creature, Nian, which attacked villagers in China. Since no one could beat the fierce being, but it vowed to take revenge. When Nian returned, the lion wasn't there to help. So, the villagers made a fake lion out bamboo and cloth. They also bangedpots and pans to scare away the Nian.
The villagers have carried on this tradition every year ever since. The lion dance has become a must see dance at very Chinese Lunar New Year celebration in Indonesia since several years ago.


Japan

Taiko : Japanese Taiko drums have been developed into a wide range of percussion instrumental that are used in both Japanese folk and classical musical traditions. Taiko was introduced t Japn through Korea by way of China, with the introduction Buddhism from India, some time before 600 A.D. , in the Nara periode of Japan's history.
Although an exact date cannot be pinpointed, scrolls and temple records show its ussage fr ceremonies. Nowadays, not only Japanese knw how to play Taiko. More and more people learn to play it, regardless of nationally.

Pointe Shoes
Pointe shoes is a special kind of shoes for ballet. There shoes are like the basic needof ballet dancers, since they need them for ponte work. Sometimes these shoes are called “toe shoes”. Before the French Revolution women’s balletshoes were heeled. After the revolution they became non-heeled and weretired withribbons to secure the feet.

Moccasins
The Moccasin is a soft and flexible shoes originally worn by North American Indian. Different tribes had different types of moccasins. The soft soles don’t only offerprotection for the feet, but also the wearers to feel the ground and walk soundlessly.

Havaianas
When you think about something fashionable that’s really Brazillian, you should think about Havaianas, a Brazilian flip-flop brand exported internationally. The name Havaianas is a Protuguese word for Havaianas. The simple and functional design inspired by Japanese rice strawsandals and the useof good material that makes a pair of Havaianas lasts longer than the usual flip-flops have won people’s hearts and resulted in about 105 milion pairs of Havaianas produced yearly.

Getas
Getas are a pair of Japanese wooden sandals usually worn with a kimono. Getas were not made or worn for fashion, but simply for a practical reason to prevent the kimono from getting mud-splattered.
